Faith Building & Faith Sharing Series
Second Sunday Night of the Month
Recap from October 13, 2013
We were blessed to have David Gunderson with us to kick-off our Faith-Building & Faith-Sharing monthly rotation series. David is a site coordinator with S.A.L.T. (Somali Adult Literacy Training) Ministries and serves with World Relief Minnesota. He challenged our church family with an important opportunity right on our doorstep here on County Road 6 in Plymouth.
For over a year, David and his wife, Carmen, had been praying for a gospel-centered church within the neighboring region of some key target areas to catch a burden for ministering to the neighboring Somali population. During this time, behind the scenes, God was burdening some within our own body with this kind of ministry. Now more than ever, PLBC has the opportunity to seize upon the clear Great Commission opportunities God has placed before us.
Please commit to personally pray concerning your degree of involvement in this Great Commission opportunity to love our neighbors and, ultimately, communicate the life-changing message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We would love to have a team of prayer warriors who have a passion for the gospel to spread to this largely unreached people group who live just blocks from our parking lot. There are also numerous opportunities already to meet with the Somali people—in their homes—to personally show Christ’s love in practical ways by tutoring them in various areas in which they desire assistance (English, math, sewing, etc.).
If you were unable to attend Sunday evening, here is a link to the audio MP3 of David’s presentation (In order to download, please right-click and then select download file). Also, David Gunderson provided a handout Sunday evening which communicates the opportunity and includes a short book list of literature he recommends to those burdened for ministry to Muslims in general and Somalis in particular. You can find the link to this document here.
Greg and Sue Clanton are PLBC’s point personnel for this opportunity. Please contact them to get involved in a prayer group or personal tutoring and to hear further testimony about this exciting opportunity.
Finally, if you would like to reach David Gunderson or his wife, Carmen, they can be reached by phone at 763-370-2061 or by email at [email protected].
It will be exciting to see how the Lord works through the coming weeks, months, and years as we intentionally pursue outreach opportunities like these and many others, taking very seriously our Great Commission responsibility as believers!
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
